Squoosh App

Overview

Squoosh App is a browser-based image compression and conversion tool. It displays the original and processed image in a split preview so users can balance visual quality against file size before downloading.

Key Features

• Choose encoders such as MozJPEG, WebP, AVIF and OxiPNG, with format-specific controls.
• Adjust quality while checking output size and the reported reduction.
• Resize images with width, height, aspect-ratio controls and multiple resampling methods.
• Reduce the color palette, inspect details with zoom, and compare the two versions using a slider.

How It Works

1. Open an image by choosing a file, dropping it into the page, pasting it or selecting a built-in sample.
2. Choose an output format and adjust compression or resize settings.
3. Inspect the comparison and file size, then download the processed image.

Use Cases

• Preparing smaller images for websites and product pages.
• Comparing image formats and quality settings before sharing pictures.

Pricing and Availability

The tool is free to use in a browser; the tested sample workflow required no account. The official page states that image processing happens locally and images do not leave the device. A built-in sample was successfully converted to WebP and downloaded during verification.
