80億分之一

Overview

80億分之一 is a free browser life simulation game built around the question of how life might differ when someone starts in another country and family. The official site says the starting country, region, household circumstances and initial state are selected at random. It uses rounded public statistics and presents one fictional lifetime from birth to its conclusion.

Key Features

• Choose whether the birth country is weighted by babies being born now or by the population of the current 8 billion people.
• Select an estimated lifetime duration of about 30 minutes, 1 hour or 1 hour 30 minutes; the simulation can be paused or fast-forwarded.
• Optionally choose the country where the player was actually born, store that choice only in the browser, and compare the generated life with that starting point.
• Generate a birth record with a fictional name, gender, country, urban or rural setting, household wealth level, parents, religion, life expectancy, child mortality and GDP-per-person data.
• Continue into a timeline with health, happiness, knowledge and relationships, life records, an illustrated life map and country-level statistics. From age six, the site presents yearly areas of focus such as education, work, romance, migration and treatment.
• At the end of a life, an optional Memorial can keep a fictional name, life summary and one short message; the About page says names and contact details are not retained.

How It Works

1. Open the multilingual homepage and choose a country-sampling method and simulation length.
2. Press the birth control to generate a country and starting conditions, then review the birth card.
3. Begin the life, watch the timeline and choose yearly focus areas when they become available.
4. Compare the life with the selected real-world starting country, leave an optional reflection, or visit the Memorial.

Use Cases

• A reflective, short-form game for exploring how geography, household conditions and public statistics shape a fictional life.
• An interactive way to compare country-level indicators such as life expectancy, schooling, GDP per person and child mortality.
